Do I need to prepare my DSLR before using it with the Barcode Edition?

No. The Barcode Edition is Plug’n’Play. As soon as you receive your Barcode Edition you can use it with your camera out of the box. The only exception is the Barcode Edition D300s. In order to use the Barcode Edition with the Nikon D300s you need a special firmware upgrade from Nikon that you get for a fee. You need to send the camera to Nikon for this upgrade.
