Pairing

On some cameras you might have to change the USB setting in your camera’s menu to prepare it for the Unleashed. Check this out our Getting Started Page for more information on that.

Initial pairing

Here’s how to pair your Unleashed when using it for the first time.

1. Plug in your Unleashed and turn on your camera. The Unleashed’s LED will light up yellow when it is plugged into the camera correctly and is getting power. If you need help with plugging it in, see this FAQ.

2. Download and install the free Unleashed app from the Apple AppStore or the Google Play Store.

3. Open the app and allow Bluetooth and location access.

4. Read through the first on-boarding screens by swiping left. Tap “START SEARCHING”.

5. The app will continuously search for Unleasheds to pair with. It’s so quick, your Unleashed might already be there from the start.

6. Tap on the Unleashed you want to pair. If the pairing was successful, a check mark will appear. Tap “DONE”.

From now on the Unleashed will automatically reconnect with your phone when you turn on your camera. When it is connected to the app, the Unleashed’s LED will light up turquoise.

Pairing (after the initial pairing)

If you’ve already paired an Unleashed before, here’s how to pair additional Unleasheds or pair an Unleashed again after unpairing it:

1. Plug in your Unleashed and turn on your camera. The Unleashed’s LED will light up yellow when it is plugged into the camera correctly and is getting power.

2. Navigate to the “YOUR UNLEASHEDS” screen by tapping the Unleashed icon at the bottom of the app menu.

3. In the “YOUR UNLEASHEDS” screen, the app will continuously search for Unleasheds to pair with. It’s so quick, your Unleashed might already be there from the start.

4. Just tap on the Unleashed you want to pair. If the pairing was successful, the Unleashed will move to the top area of the screen and the camera and Unleashed model name will be displayed.

From now on the Unleashed will automatically reconnect with your phone when you turn on your camera. When it is connected to the app, the Unleashed’s LED will light up turquoise.

The switch to the right of each Unleashed lets you disable and reenable them manually, if necessary. The Unleashed can only be connected to one device at a time, so if you want to pair and use it with a second phone or tablet, you need to disable it on the first device or unpair it.

If no Unleasheds are enabled, the app will automatically switch to the “Virtual Unleashed”, indicated at the top of each main screen. This is exclusively a demo mode to test app features or to show a friend or colleague how it works, when you don’t have an Unleashed connected. Beware that no photos will be taken in this mode!

Unpairing an Unleashed

1. Navigate to the “YOUR UNLEASHEDS” screen by tapping the Unleashed settings icon at the bottom of the app menu.

2. Tap on the Unleashed you want to unpair. You can also unpair Unleasheds that are not currently connected.

3. Tap “Unpair Unleashed”.
